What is a Humanity Token, and how do you earn one?
A Humanity Token is the small unit of trust that makes the rest of the network work. It's not a coin. It's not a badge. It's a signal — to us, and to other people on Hi Friction — that you've done the small, awkward thing that proves you're real.
How you earn one
You earn a Humanity Token by completing one of the lightweight human checks we run from time to time. None of them ask for ID. None of them sell your data. They're the kind of checks that take you a few seconds and that a bot, today, genuinely can't pass.
The first one happens at sign-up. After that, they appear occasionally — never in the middle of something important, always in places they make sense.
What having one gets you
A Humanity Token is what unlocks the things that matter most on Hi Friction: posting in active communities, commenting where conversations are heated, getting through to people you don't already follow.
If you don't have a current Token, you can still read, browse, and use most of the network. You just can't add to the noise.
Why we built it this way
We could have made verification a one-time thing and a green tick. But bots learn faster than tick-mark systems update, and a "verified" badge from 2014 is doing nobody any favours.
Continuous verification — small, infrequent, in your own time — is the version of this that actually works. The Humanity Token is the receipt.
